Africa Food Parcels
The worst drought in over half a century has hit parts of East Africa affecting more than 10 million people. Thousands of families have travelled for days in search of water across scorched scrubland, including barefoot children with no provisions after their crops and livestock were destroyed by drought.
The UN has declared an emergency crisis and called upon the international aid community to raise £ billions to save the lives of millions of desperate people in East Africa.
Somalia is one of the worst affected areas where:
• 6.2 million people, are facing acute food insecurity and in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
• 185,000 children are expected to suffer from severe acute malnutrition this year, this figure is expected to rise to 270,000 in the next few months.
Crisis Aid is responding to the famine in East Africa taking a holistic approach. We plan to deliver water and food to the worst affected rural areas in Somalia. As our normal practice our own team will be supervising the distribution of aid to ensure it goes to the most desperate of people.
