Over 314,000 refugees are living in 2,000 emergency relief camps in the areas affected. These camps are desperately need food, water and medicine.

The heavy monsoon rains and catastrophic flooding in southern India have stranded thousands of people on the rooftops of flooded homes and killed more than 400 people in Kerala state.

Kerala’s chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, says the flooding is the worst the state has seen in 100 years.
