My Story

Ovais Ahmed (Luton, UK)

In Ramadan 2018 whilst reflecting on myself I concluded that all my life I had been a passenger when it came to charity. I was also contributing to projects but never took the initiative of developing one. I felt it was time to step up and use the skills I had accumulated over the years and make a difference.

The hadith above relating to the rewards for looking after orphans became the centre of my focus. I decided now was the time I contributed back to this world to seek the pleasure of Allah and hope to build a place for myself in Paradise.

I teamed up with Crisis Aid and set off to Uganda in July 2018. The plan was to self an orphanage for about 20 children, however, whilst travelling in Uganda and assessing the need, we decided to build an orphanage for 100 children.

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Crisis Aid to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Crisis Aid we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

I would like Crisis Aid to treat this donation, any donations I have made in the last 4 years and any future donations until I notify otherwise as Gift Aid donations. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
