Borewell Water Projects

Water… the source of life.  With large swathes of arid land covered by the Sahara desert, a severe lack of water is the biggest challenge faced by rural communities across Mauritania.  This inevitably has a detrimental impact on all aspects of daily life – from hygiene and health to food and drink.  Our water projects will completely transform the lives of entire villages and communities by providing them with a safe, clean and sufficient supply of fresh water.  Finding water in the Sahara desert is extremely challenging and our water projects include drilling a borewell (up to 230m in depth), solar panel installation, water pump machines, concrete water tower and tank, piping as well as water collection points for both people and animals.
