When Is Qurbani?
Find out the dates for Qurbani (Eid al-Adha sacrifice) in 2025 and how to plan your giving with Crisis Aid’s trusted guidance and services.
When and How Is Qurbani Performed?
Qurbani, the ritual animal sacrifice performed each year during Eid al-Adha, commemorates the unwavering obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was prepared to sacrifice his son in submission to Allah’s command. This sacred act is a reminder of faith, sacrifice, and generosity.
In 2025, Eid al-Adha is expected to begin on the evening of Monday, June 30th, and will continue for about three days, ending on Thursday, July 3rd. However, exact dates may vary depending on moon sighting in your local area.
The sacrifice is performed during the first three days of Eid—beginning on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. Qurbani should be carried out after the Eid prayer on the morning of the 10th Dhul Hijjah. It can then be performed any time during the 10th, 11th, and 12th. Some scholars, including those following the Hanafi school, also allow Qurbani to be performed until sunset on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah.
To ensure your Qurbani is valid, it must not be done before the Eid prayer. Performing it afterward within the allowed days fulfils this important act of worship and allows your sacrifice to benefit those in need—spiritually and practically.
Always check your local Islamic authority or mosque for confirmed dates and timings in your region.
