Bangladesh Crisis

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated nations with soaring levels of food poverty.

With 32% of the land consisting of coastal plains, the smallest fluctuation in rainfall, or worse, a cyclone, can destroy the delicate ecosystems and increase salt levels in both land and water.

The city of Cox’s Bazar is home to over 700,000 Rohingya refugees who have fled violence in Myanmar. This has placed additional strain on a country already in a constant battle against poverty, pushing local resources to breaking point.

Bangladesh is a tropical country dominated by rich, fertile flat land – but its impressive ecosystem is also vulnerable to the impacts of natural disasters, especially as climate change intensifies. Severe flooding, landslides and earthquakes have plagued the country and damaged attempts to address social problems and improve infrastructure.

Your Donations in Action

Over the past few years, Bangladesh has become host to the Rohingya. This community is an ethnic group that has faced severe persecution in Myanmar for decades. When the hostility against them worsened, many fled their home country for neighbouring Bangladesh.

Our team have been distributing food parcels and building water wells for families in desperate need, helping them cope with the impact of conflict, and to help them to recover and resume their childhoods.
