A Well of Mercy – In Loving Memory of Hussein Bana

In March 2025, we lost our beloved brother Hussein Bana. 

He was truly a joy to be around — his presence brought warmth, laughter and light into our lives. Our home feels empty without him.

In honour of his life and his roots, we are raising £1,600 to build a water well in Somalia — his homeland — as Sadaqah Jariyah in his name.

Earlier this year, a previous fundraising effort was unexpectedly refunded through the platform used. Despite over a year of attempts to resolve the matter, it remained unsettled.

Alhamdulillah, we now have a new opportunity. Sheikh Abdulaziz is leading an urgent appeal to build 20 water wells in Somalia, providing a long-term solution for clean water to communities in desperate need. Each well will serve hundreds of families, transforming lives by ending water scarcity.

Our intention is to fund one complete well entirely in Hussein’s name.

Access to clean water transforms lives — supporting families, children, education and health. Every drop drawn from this well will, by Allah’s mercy, be a continuous charity for him.

The Prophet ﷺ taught us that when a person passes away, their deeds end except for three — one of them being ongoing charity.

We pray this well becomes a source of light in his grave and reward that continues to flow for him.

May Allah accept from us all and reunite us with him in Jannah. Ameen.
