Make your time matter
Poverty around the world has left millions of people without the bare necessities such as food, water, shelter and good health. We take for granted these necessities which we have generously available to us. That’s why we need people like you to volunteer your time in whatever way you can so collectively we can give something back to those in need.
There are so many ways to get involved, from basic warehouse work, packing, driving and volunteering in our offices. Whether it’s minutes or months, hours or days, the time you give really does matter.
As a Crisis Aid volunteer, you will:
- Make a meaningful difference to people affected by poverty and oppression
- Receive any necessary training for your role and have access to ongoing development
- Have the opportunity to influence our work
- Meet likeminded people and become part of the Crisis Aid team
Just fill in the form below, send the require documents and we will send you more information.
Find a role
There are volunteering opportunities available all over the UK, including some which are home-based. Some roles require you to give a specific amount of time, or have a particular skill. The description for each role will tell you what kind of time commitment or experience is required. Most roles just need your time and enthusiasm.
If we want to take your application further, we’ll invite you to meet us for a chat. It’s a chance for you to find out more about the role and the organisation and we can get to know you better to find out how we can match your skills and interests with our volunteer opportunities.
We will ask for references for most of our roles. This helps us to confirm the identity of our volunteers and to build a better understanding of them. You will be asked to supply references on your application form. Crisis Aid is committed to using fair, relevant and consistent processes to assess suitability and safety of potential volunteers and staff.
Receive training and support
All volunteers will have an induction and, if needed, you will also get specific training for your role. Staff members are always on hand to provide ongoing help and support during your time volunteering with us.
I can’t find a suitable role. Am I still able to help?
My company encourages me to volunteer. Can you help?
There are many ways in which you can volunteer, either as an individual or as a team. If you can’t find what you are looking for or want to discuss your requirements in more detail, please contact us on [email protected] or call 01582 211 066
What if I have a criminal record?
As an organisation committed to equality and diversity, we recognise the contribution that all people can make as employees or volunteers, and so we welcome enquiries of interest from everyone. Crisis Aid believes people can change and we love to give people second chances. We find some of our best volunteers are those who have previous convictions. For more information please ask us to send you our policy for recruiting people with criminal convictions.
How can I prove I’m a volunteer if someone asks?
Volunteers in some roles will receive a photo identity card but not all volunteers will be given one. If anyone questions you, call us on 01582 211 066 and we’ll verify that you’re a volunteer.
If you are interested in saving lives and giving to others, please fill out the form below to apply to be a volunteer.
